Missing True Christianity

Missing True Christianity

What is the difference between religion and true Christianity?  As Paul continues his letter to the Philippian believers, he explains the difference between mere religion and true Christianity.  Religion will never suffice, only true salvation gives assurance of eternal life.  Paul explained, “whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.  What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”  There is nothing more important than having a personal relationship with Jesus.  Are you merely religious?  Or do you know Jesus personally?

1.  If My Christianity is True, Then my Heart Should be Set Upon:  (Vss. 1-4a)
     A. Service to God
     B. Boasting in Christ Jesus
     C. Full Confidence in Christ
2.  If I am Only Religious, Then my Heart Will be Set Upon:  (Vss. 4b-6)
     A. Rituals
     B. Church Membership
     C. Religious Performance
3.  If I am Missing True Christianity, Then I Should do This:  (Vss. 7-11)
     A. Consider Everything Loss in Order to Gain Christ (Vs. 7-8a)
     B. Be Found in Christ (Vs. 8b-9)
     C. Seek to Know Christ Deeper (Vs. 10)
     D. Set my Sights on Eternity (Vs. 11)
